Blind Review - A MUST for LSAT Prep

Blind Review is one of the techniques that was instrumental to my score increase. In fact, one of the first things I ask a new student is if they're familiar with "B.R."

The technique is pretty simple, but it can be confusing when you're first learning it. Luckily, 7sage put together a sold primer on Blind Review. Take a few minutes to make sure you've got this essential tool nailed down.

I'm starting my PT-taking this week. Some of my key takeaways from the 7Sage blind-review overview:

- Don't immediately check your answers to see if you got it right

- Do check how you arrived at each answer. This way you can test if you test your reasoning and understanding of how you arrived at the answer you got.

- Circle questions you're not sure of. During BR, you make two choices.
(1) Keep the same answer
-Wrong? It's not because of a lack of time. It's a lack of
understanding. Figure out what was wrong in your reasoning.
Star or keep a copy of this question; review this question
regularly
-Right? Great. Reinforce to yourself the reason for your
answer.

(2) Change the answer.
-Right? Reinforce your reasoning.
-Wrong? Oops! If your first answer was right and your BR
answer is wrong, then figure out why you changed your
answer and find the error in your reasoning. If your first
answer was wrong, and your BR answer was wrong,
something is wrong in your understanding of the stimulus--
diagramming would be helpful here.

-If you get a question wrong and you didn't circle it, this is really bad. It means you're "overconfident" on this question.

-If you skip a question and you get it right, that means that the time pressure isn't a problem. If you skip and get it wrong, it's good you skipped, cause it might mean this question confuses you and would have taken too much time.

Thanks for sharing Mylene! Sounds like you’ve got the foundation. I have to say that blind review is a tool that students can use throughout their progress from the very beginning straight through to within striking distance of their target score. It certainly was for me. Definitely let me know if you have any questions!
